Between the Ends of Worlds, Touch
[Stephanie Sauer]
EXCERPT: "Like women, books are not empty vessels to be filled with the ideas of men. They are structures that actively convey ideas, long held cultural beliefs and, potentially, new ways of seeing. Making books that are often called artist books is an activist project as much as it is an arts practice. These books insist that form conveys content, that the eyes must translate what is and what is not contained in words, that the hands have their own ways of reading. With each making, I counteract a culture that insists upon my passivity."
This book explores what it is to make books between geographies, genders, and, yes, worlds.
